With Tom Holland set to debut the new Spider-Man in “Captain America: Civil War,” it’s just fitting for the press to wonder what Marvel has planned for the character thereafter. It appears the studio has come prepared with contingency plans to show how the web crawler can serve a better purpose in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige sat down with IGN to talk about how Marvel has prepared for Spider-Man’s entry into the MCU. Talking about how it has always been their dream to bring the web crawler into the MCU, Feige expressed his personal drive to “do great things” with the character on film.

“He can serve a great purpose in our universe, and that’s where he belongs. That’s what was unique about him in the comics, not that he was the only superhero in the world, it was that he was a totally different kind of superhero when compared against the other ones in the Marvel universe,” he said.

When asked by another reporter about how Marvel plans to further introduce Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Feige talked about how Marvel already has a contingency plan for the character to address his inclusion in the MCU. Feige also talked about having a Spider-Man stand-alone movie that will help reintroduce the web crawler. According to Screenrant, the solo film is rumoured for the title “The Spectacular Spider-Man.”

“The most important thing as a standalone is relaunching Spider-Man in his own standalone movie with his own storylines that fits into this universe. That is job number one for us. … The connectivity is great, but it doesn’t drive the train,” Feige told the reporter.

Feige also talked about Holland's appearance as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War.” His presence in the sequel has been hyped up so much that fans want to know exactly how much screen time he will have. However, Feige hinted that Peter Parker may only have a cameo appearance, as what has been initially reported, because the movie is still “very much Cap's story.”

“Captain America: Civil War” is set for U.S. release on May 6, 2016.
