Finally, there is one television technology which stands out among others and proves itself to be the best option available. In July, the Korean electronics giant LG launched its curved EG960T television, becoming the first to bring an Ultra HD OLED model in Australia. The “best TV in the world” does come at a hefty price though. The range was locally priced at AU$9,999 for the 65-inch model and AU$5,999 for 55 inches.

The Ultra HD which also known as 4K refers to a screen resolution of 4,096 x 2,160 which is greater than the current Full HD standard of 1,920 x 1080. The television is curved and amazingly thin without any bazel around the edges. With 4K, the display quality and clarity is said to be enhanced four times than the typical full high-definition televisions, reports News.com.au.

Meanwhile, OLED is a new panel technology that allows individual pixels to be turned on and off rather than just dimmed which results in significantly deeper blacks, helping colour contrast and creating a brighter image. OLED’s backlighting is produced by putting electricity through organic materials that light up as a specific colour. It is simply the best TV technology available at the moment. The use of OLED makes colors and blacks look exceptionally enhanced than anything else available in the market. From tennis matches or movies to cartoons –everything look extraordinary. As reported by The Australian, LG opines that it gives the “perfect black” which is difficult to deny.

The Harman/Kardon 20-Watt speaker system is outstanding as compared to most of the built-in television speakers. Complimenting it with a good sound bar or a home theatre would be perfect. LG’s Web 2.0 operating system ties in live TV. It also encompasses the Netflix, Bigpond and Quickflix apps, as well as the usual catch-up services and ways to stream content from a phone or computer. The navigation is effortless and entire experience of using the TV is awesome. Currently, there is a lack of good 4K content. Netflix is streaming 4K content. Ultra HD Blu ray discs and players are due to be out in the markets by the end of 2015.
