Verizon sends out an over the air update patch that offers a few enhancements for the LG G4. The update will change the smartphone's version of the LG G4 firmware t0 VS98611A and it will offer three enhancements to the device.

First on the list of enhancements is the updated Folio display while in call, which is the proprietary Quick circle case of LG. The update also improves the display of both contacts and non-contacts in the dialer app, making them appear consistently. An Advanced calling feature will also be introduced to the smartphone.

The patch is an over-the-air update meaning some LG G4 owners may have to wait for the update because it will be distributed in different times at different areas.

The company has recently announced that there are no plans for updating G4's operating system. LG said that an update to bring the smartphones operating system to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is not in development. This could mean that the smartphone and along with its predecessor; the G3, will go directly into the next major version of Google's mobile operating system, Android M.

G4 owners has not had any problems with the current operating system but G3 owners tell a different story. The Android 5.0 Lollipop update caused many problems on G3 units. These problems include, quick battery drainage, slow charging times and Wi-Fi connectivity issues. G3 owners will have to wait for Android M for the issues to be fixed.

The G4 on the other hand, has had issues on its touchscreen wherein not all taps by the users are registered. The screen also lags when attempting to mutitask and switch between apps. Verizon has since released an update fixing the issue but not as an over-the-air update. The update went through as an LG Keyboard update.
