Australian health officials on Thursday warned the public against Legionnaires' disease (Legionella pneumophila) among a small number of travelers returning from the Kuta region of Bali, Indonesia since August 2010.

On Wednesday, the Department of Health and Ageing issued a statement about the outbreak, providing further information about the disease.

Travellers in Bali or who have recently returned, who experience 'flu-like' symptoms such as fever and cough should consult their GPs or hospital emergency departments, and advise them of their recent travel.

Indonesian health authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO) are aware of the problem and are investigating possible sources of outbreak.
