Actress Anne Hathaway recently returned to the Hollywood spotlight after taking a break due to the flood of negative comments about her on the Internet. The 31-year-old "Interstellar" star made a guest appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" last Thursday, Nov. 6, where she opened up about being a victim to cyberbullying.

According to UsWeekly, a lot of hateful comments were thrown at Anne Hathaway on the Internet after the actress took home her Academy Award as "Best Supporting Actress" for "Les Miserables" in 2013. Hathaway revealed during her guest appearance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that she came across a hurtful story when she and her friends had an idea for a "Funny and Die" skit focusing on celebrity pregnancy rumours.

"So we just Googled 'pregnancy rumors' and the story came up... the title of it was 'Why Does Everyone Hate Anne Hathaway?'" the actress shared. Hathaway admitted to TV host Ellen DeGeneres that she initially could not help it so she ended up listening to what others had to say about her instead of trying to shut it off.

"Then I realized why I couldn't: I hadn't learned to love myself yet. I hadn't gotten there. If you don't love yourself when someone says horrible things to you, part of you is always going to believe them," Hathaway explained. "The Devil Wears Prada" star revealed that the day came when she no longer wanted to believe what other people say about her because she does not want to feel fragile and depend on what others think about her.

When asked how she dealt with the bullies, Anne Hathaway told Ellen DeGeneres that she followed "Interstellar" co-star Matthew McConaughey's advice. "I just took a step back, and as [he] would say, 'I just kept living'," Hathaway shared. After the hurtful ordeal on the Internet, Anne Hathaway confessed that she no longer has the habit of searching herself on Google because doing that is just a bad idea.

Meanwhile, Ellen DeGeneres showed support to her celebrity guest because she knows what it feels like to be bullied. The 56-year-old TV host and comedienne revealed that she encountered the same battle with a small but loud group of cyberbullies.

"There's a great phrase: 'What you think of me is none of my business'," DeGeneres shared to the actress who agreed to her saying. The TV host added that there is nothing wrong with being fragile because she thinks it is a beautiful thing. Watch Anne Hathaway talk about being bullied on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" below.
