Android 6.0, the newest version of the mobile OS from Google, is gradually being rolled-out to different flagship smartphones from 2014 and 2015. After making the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update available for HTC One M8 GPE users, it’s now been made available for unlocked HTC One M8 owners in the U.S. It’s been confirmed the HTC One M9 handset will also receive the update within this month.

Mo Versi, Vice President for product management at Taiwan’s HTC Corporation, proclaimed the release of Android M update for unlocked HTC One M8 users on Twitter. The update was released within 24 hours of the announcement on the social site. HTC One M8 users on U.S. carriers are going to receive the update early in 2016.

HTC One M8 users in European countries should get the update two weeks from now, revealed LlabTooFeR, a popular tipster. HTC is expected to release the latest Android build with Sense 7 UI.

HTC One M8 and HTC One M9 are both scheduled to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update before the end of the year, Phone Arena reported. The release of Android 6.0 for HTC One M9 is imminent as Versi also confirmed the update will be released to the 2015 flagship very soon.

U.S. carriers are likely to release the Android M update for their HTC One M9 users at the start of next year. Currently, the only handset from the Taiwanese company that comes preloaded with Android 6.0 is HTC One A9.

HTC has already revealed the list of other handsets that will get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the near future. The HTC One M9+, E9+, E9, ME, E8, M8 Eye, Butterfly 3, Desire 826, Desire 820 and Desire 816 handsets are going to receive the Android 6.0 soon. The Taiwanese company has not made announcement on the estimated release timeframe.
