Mobile games are going to see a breakthrough and a breakout in 2015. And it appears that Warner Bros. is trying to lead the pack with a number of games planned for release.

Announced via a press release, there are now five titles in the lineup for 2015 for mobile. The company’s rationale for adding more fuel and choices in the mobile section is due in part to the growth seen in its own mobile business and well as expected market share with this move.

Perhaps the biggest announcement would be for fans of the Batman Arkham game series. With Rocksteady’s final installment “Batman: Arkham Knight” coming out in April, Warner Bros. is bringing in a companion app for it as well.

Turbine, developer of “Infinite Crisis” and “Lord of the Rings Online,” is working on two titles for Warner Bros. The first is titled “Batman: Arkham Underworld.” The main goal of the game is to create a hideout in Gotham City where you can recruit and train your own army of goons. At the helm of the goon mob are an array of well-known Batman baddies, including Harley Quinn, Killer Croc and The Riddler. There’s already a sign-up for a beta trial where interested participants can become one of the first few to experience the beta version of the game.

The other title is a “Game of Thrones” mobile game. This game has neither a title nore any other details on the how’s and what’s of the game. But according to Warner Bros, it will let players in on a strategy and combat game across Westeros. And in the style of “Game of Thrones,” this will include spies and battles in the Seven Kingdoms. This is a good break for Turbine, after Game Informer reported that the company has suffered layoffs late last year.

Previously announced and reported for iOS and Android devices is the “Mortal Kombat X: Mobile” brawler, also coming from Warner Bros. in 2015. This is supposed to be a companion app for the upcoming title coming out on PC and consoles, which is the reboot to the MK franchise. There’s already a teaser trailer for the game, though there are no specifics on the gameplay.

What has been reported about the gameplay is that it will follow developer NetherRealm Studio’s other title, “Injustice: Gods Among Us.” Digital Trends reiterated in its report that it will come with an extensive lineup of characters, unlockable bonus when connected with the console or PC version and a card-collecting-slash-battle experience.

Finally, there are two DC-related titles that top off the list. The first is “Lego Batman: Beyond Gotham” from TT Games. It will see the Dark Knight alongside other DC superheroes in an attempt to stop Brainiac from annihilating the planet. The other title Is ‘DC Comics Legends,” which allows customisation of super heroes and villains in a mobile role-playing game.

“In just four years, we have launched 25 games with more than 150 million installs worldwide across diverse fighting, strategy, puzzle and action adventure games, and we will focus our business on a strong games-as-a-service model in 2015,” said Warner Bros. senior vice president for mobile, social and emerging platforms Greg Ballard in the announcement. “Our line-up of strong titles will deliver deep player engagement, as well as innovation like console game connectivity with games including ‘Mortal Kombat X’ and ‘Batman: Arkham Underworld.’”
