AMC's hit zombie show's iconic character Daryl Dixon's (Norman Reedus) sexuality created quite a buzz in the recent past. He may or may not be gay. However, the show is not going to reveal that anytime soon. "The Walking Dead" Season 5 may welcome a new gay male character.

Warning: Spoilers Alert!

Scott M. Gimple, executive producer of the show, talked to TVLine about Daryl's sexual orientation and a new character.

He mentioned that they know different things about the characters but haven't revealed them as yet.

"[But] we're not holding back information on Daryl's sexuality as any sort of big reveal. The fact that there's still a question as to what Daryl's orientation is in Season 5 absolutely speaks to Daryl's character; he is a very guarded, very closed-off individual in a lot of ways. We have been able to see him ever so slowly open up and show the other characters aspect by aspect as to what makes him tick. That's been a very satisfying journey for all of us on the creative side to portray. [And] he's still on that journey," Gimple said.

He also stated that Daryl will "continue to grow closer to other characters."

Gimple added that Reedus' character will let his guard down and let others see who the real Daryl is.

The executive producer insisted that they have no plans to address Daryl Dixon's sexual orientation in "The Walking Dead" Season 5.

During the interview, he revealed that Season 5 will introduce a homosexual male character.

However, Gimple did not reveal the episode in which this character will make his debut. What do you think about the introduction of this new character in the show? Will he become a part of Rick and company? Share your views and theories below.

"The Walking Dead" Season 5, Episode 1 airs Sunday, October 12, 2014 on AMC.
