Virgin Australia has begun services between Brisbane and Gladstone for the first time in Monday with new ATR turbo‐prop aircraft.

Virgin Australia Group Executive Alliances, Network and Yield, Merren McArthur said the services will bring much needed competition to the route.

“Gladstone is an important part of the Group’s strategy to provide regional centres with reliable and value for money air services. We are pleased to be supporting the local community as well as the important mining and tourism industries in the Gladstone region.

“The double‐daily week day services will appeal to both the corporate and leisure traveller by connecting them with the Virgin Australia domestic and international network and partner airline flights,” she said.

Available to purchase October 17, Virgin Australia will add a third weekday return service from Brisbane to Gladstone from 16 January.

Under its alliance with Virgin Australia, Skywest will operate and maintain the 68‐seat
ATR 72‐500 aircraft on behalf of Virgin Australia using Virgin Australia’s branding and quality inflight product and service.
