“This is Us” season 2 stars Milo Ventimiglia and Mandy Moore have teased that fans have a lot more to look forward to when the drama series returns this year. Ventimiglia hinted that something big is coming up with the Pearson family.

Some fans had expressed their disappointment after the ABC drama season 1 finale aired since Jack Pearson’s (Ventimiglia) death was not addressed. Not that everyone wants him dead. Viewers were hoping that it will be revealed why Papa Pearson died and why Kate blames herself for her father’s death.

Prior to the finale, Moore said the finale will “destroy America.” She, however, also hinted that it might not be for the reasons fans are expecting and will upset some for completely different reasons.

On-screen couple Ventimiglia and Moore reunited in the recent Deadline’s The Contenders Emmys event wherein they shared some tidbits on what to expect next season. The actor revealed that the Pearsons are about to face more challenges when the highly acclaimed series returns.

“This Is Us” season 1 concluded with a heated argument between Jack and Rebecca (Moore) that prompted the Pearson patriarch to leave their house and spend some time with his best friend Miguel (Jon Huertas). The Big Three, on the other hand, revealed their next plans.

Kate (Chrissy Metz) told Toby (Chris Sullivan) that she wanted to pursue a singing career like her mother Rebecca. Kevin (Justin Hartley) left his ex-wife Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge) to go to an audition with Ron Howard for a movie role. Finally, Randall (Sterling K Brown) revealed to Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) that he wants to adopt a baby. The couple already has two daughters.

“There’s a lot happening for all of the Pearsons. Jack and Rebecca need to get their marriage on track because it’s crumbled and fractured,” Ventimiglia told Deadline. “I think some of the answers people are looking for will be at least satisfied and satiated at the beginning of next season,” Moore added.

Meanwhile, while the actress may have remained in the dark about the details of season 2, Ventimiglia has more juicy details to share. The actor has revealed that he recently had dinner with executive producers Dan Fogelman and Ken Olin and learned a few secrets about the upcoming season.

Apparently, when he told Moore what he had learned from their EP, the actress was surprised. He even posted on Twitter a photo of the singer/actress in which she looked stunned.

“This is Us” season 2 is set to premiere on September 2017 on NBC in the US. Australia's Channel Ten currently airs season 1 every Wednesday at 8:30 p.m.
