Snapdragon 810 is the new chipset from Qualcomm that is set to arrive in various smartphones from different brands this year. Earlier it was reported that at peak frequencies, the Snapdragon 810 chipset encountrered overheating issues because of which its mass production was delayed for OEMs.

The news about the overheating issue of SD 810 (Snapdragon 810) first started in December and it kept on persisting. The overheating problem is known to affect the performance of the chipset. Even though Qualcomm had denied such reports at the beginning, fresh reports claim that the company has resolved the issue, says G for Games.

The only smartphones that have been officially announced to feature the Snapdragon 810 chipset are LG G Flex 2 and Xiaomi Mi Note Pro. G for Games claims that LG G Flex 2 does not deliver good performance. Moreover, according to the International Business Times, Samsung has opted to make use of Exynos 7 Octa chipset instead of Snapdragon 810 for its Galaxy S6 flagship citing overheating issue of the chip.

G for Games further states that according to an insider from TSMC (Taiwanese Semiconductor Manufacturing Company), the firm that has been assigned by Qualcomm to actually build the Snapdragon 810 chipsets, reveals that since the overheating issues have been addressed, the LG G Flex 2 and the LG G4 (upcoming flagship that will be powered with SD 810) are on track to roll out according to launch schedule. The mass production of Snapdragon 810 is going to start in mid-March as many SD 810 powered flagships from different brands are expected to get unleashed around the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 expo.

According to Phone Arena, the said chipset is going to power up numerous high-end smartphones from global brands this year. It states that in 2015, a Droid phablet from Motorola, Sony Xperia Z4, Oppo Find 9,and Microsoft Lumia flagship are some of the major devices to feature the Snapdragon 810.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 is a 64-bit octa-core processor that contains quad cores of Cortex A57 and quad cores of Cortex A53. It also features Adreno 430 graphics and supports 4K video recording and playback. The SD 810 phones may feature up to 55 MP of camera. It comes equipped with Cat. 9 LTE modem that promises up to 450 Mbps of download speed.
