Samsung’s Gear VR virtual reality headset is the new gadget in focus. This gear, however, supports only the Galaxy Note 4 at this point. According to Sam Mobile, the tech giant will reportedly make the upcoming Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S Edge smartphones compatible with the Samsung Gear VR.

Notably, the currently compatible Galaxy Note 4 phablet comes with a humongous 5.7-inch display. However, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S Edge will reportedly sport relatively smaller displays when compared to the Note 4. This means, Samsung could release various VR adapters for the upcoming devices. Alternatively, the company might also build smaller models of the Gear VR headset, opines Phone Arena. If reports are true, Samsung will launch the Galaxy S6 and the curved-display clad Galaxy S Edge in early March. More information on the integration of the aforesaid smartphones with the gear will be revealed in the upcoming weeks.

When it comes to the speculated key specifications, the Samsung Galaxy S6 will reportedly sport a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display, packed with 1,440 × 2,560 pixels QHD resolution. Under the hood, the phone will be powered by either an octa-core Samsung Exynos 7 SoC or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip. Plus, the handset is expected to be backed by a good 3 GB of RAM. As far as the memory goes, the phones will reportedly come equipped with 32 GB of internal storage capacity. Moreover, the upcoming device will reportedly support LTE Category 9/10 connectivity.

Moving on to the camera specification, the Galaxy S6 will reportedly house a 20 MP rear-facing unit, in addition to a 5 MP secondary unit, says GSM Arena. Speaking of the device design, unlike other Samsung phones that predominantly flaunt plastic/polycarbonate materials, the S6 will reportedly come with an aluminium construction, says GSM Arena. This means, the handset will not feature a metal frame, similar to the Galaxy Note 4. Instead, the handset will come with a full-metal construction, in the lines of the Galaxy A series of handsets.

Moving on to the Galaxy S6 Edge, the device will reportedly be similar to the S6 by housing the same display size, screen resolution, processor, camera, memory and RAM configuration. But unlike the regular display of the flagship S6, the Galaxy S6 Edge will feature bent-glass display. However, reports say, the bent-display could be part of both sides of the smartphone instead of just the right side, as seen in the Note Edge, says GSM Arena. But then, none of the speculated features have been confirmed by Samsung yet.
