Samsung’s killer move to let go of the plastic design seen in the Galaxy S5 for a refined mix of metal and glass design has paid off very well for the South Korean tech giant. The Samsung Galaxy S6 has both aesthetics and cutting-edge specifications in abundance. Meanwhile, the brilliant OnePlus One smartphone packed with killer looks and features was released back in June. Readers who are interested in purchasing the stunning Samsung Galaxy S6 or the impressive OnePlus One should check out this comparison of specifications, prices and features.

Galaxy S6 vs. OnePlus One: Display, Design And Size

The Samsung Galaxy S6 features a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display and 2K/Quad HD screen resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. This display metrics translate to a killer pixel density of 577 ppi. The OnePlus One, on the other hand, sports a comparatively bigger 5.5-inch LTPS LCD display and 1,080 x 1,920 pixels resolution. And this trickles down to a pixel density of an inferior 410 ppi. It is worth noting that, the higher the pixel density, the display looks clearer and sharper.

When it comes to design, the Samsung Galaxy S6 flaunts a brand new design philosophy that is in contrast to other Galaxy S flagship smartphones. Looking back at the history, the South Korean tech giant has been incessantly criticised for the plastic-looking Galaxy S line-up. Upon taking the feedback and criticism in its stride, Samsung has apparently re-invented itself in the design department with the new Galaxy S6. To be specific, the leather rear panel seen in the predecessor Galaxy S5 has reportedly been substituted by a glass material. Adding a cherry on top, the device sports a metal frame surrounding the sides, which is analogous to the behemoth Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Generally speaking, the Galaxy S6 looks effortlessly stunning and it is reportedly more durable, as reported by Tech2.

Moving on to the OnePlus One, the device flaunts a magnesium chassis, along with a matte-effect laden plastic rear shell. This unique yet brilliant external design combination is held together by a good quality build. Also, the OnePlus One’s rear panel is alterable with a slew of shell choices like bamboo, kevlar and denim, writes GizMag.

Speaking of size, the thickness and weight of the OnePlus handset are 0.35-inch and 162 g respectively, while the Samsung phone is 0.27-inch thick and weighs 138 g. Therefore, it is evident that, the S6 is extremely light and thin when compared to the OnePlus One.

Galaxy S6 vs. OnePlus One: Hardware, Software And Memory

The OnePlus One is powered by a quad-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 801) processor, whereas the Galaxy S6 is powered by a superior octa-core (Samsung Exynos 7420) SoC. Despite the difference, both the handsets are backed by 3 GB of RAM configuration.

Speaking of software, the S6 runs on the Android v5.0.2 Lollipop OS along with the TouchWiz UI. Meanwhile, the OnePlus One runs on Android v4.4.2 KitKat OS with CyanogenMod 11S on board. However, this handset is upgradable to Android v4.4.4 KitKat. Plus, the OnePlus phone offers 16 GB and 64 GB of storage space. The Samsung Galaxy S6, on the other hand, comes with 32 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB of in-built storage choices. In any case, both the handsets do not support expandable storage.

Galaxy S6 vs. OnePlus One: Camera And Battery

While the Galaxy S6 features a good 16 MP rear-facing camera unit with LED flash, optical image stabilisation (OIS) and HDR, the OnePlus One settles for a 13 MP primary camera with dual-LED flash and HDR. Additionally, both the handsets sport the same 5 MP secondary shooter. However, the Samsung device supports HDR at the front as well.

When it comes to the battery configuration, the OnePlus One trumps the Galaxy S6 fair and square. The Galaxy S6 features a non-removable Li-Ion 2,550 mAh unit, whereas the OnePlus One comes equipped with a non-removable Li-Po 3,100 mAh unit.

Galaxy S6 vs. OnePlus One: Additional Features

1. While the Samsung device supports wireless charging feature, the OnePlus handset doesn’t. In addition to the standard connectivity options, both the devices support LTE and NFC. Besides, the S6 supports Infrared port as well. Furthermore, the OnePlus One is a dual-SIM handset, while the Galaxy S6 is a single-SIM phone.

2. The Galaxy S6 features a Fingerprint scanner, whereas the OnePlus device doesn’t. Adding a cherry on top, the Samsung phone supports the new payment system called the Samsung Pay, which is analogous to the counterpart Apple Pay seen in the iPhone 6.

Galaxy S6 vs. OnePlus One: Price And Release Date

Speaking of Samsung Galaxy S6 price, the smartphone will apparently set the buyers back by $699 in the U.S. And the Galaxy S6 release date is reportedly marked for April 10. Meanwhile, the OnePlus One price has been slashed to $339 from the original price of $399 in Oppomart.
