'Ray Donovan' season 3 episode 9 recap: Teresa and Bunchy’s wedding takes heated turn; Bunchy gets arrested

“Ray Donovan” Season 3 Episode 9, titled “The Octopus,” highlighted Bunchy (Dash Mihok) and Teresa’s (Alyssa Diaz) wedding day and delved into the relationships of various family members and their close friends.

The night before the big day, both families gathered at Ray (Liev Schreiber) and Abby’s house for dinner. Abby welcomed the guests and asked Ray to say a few words. However, it turned out to be a bad idea, because Ray only managed to insult the couple with his limited social skills.

Mickey (Jon Voight), in the meantime, was with Detective Sheila Muncie (Michael Hyatt), who has been trying to implicate the Minassians in several crimes. The cops were particularly after Ivan Belikov (Aharon Ipalé) and wanted Mickey to participate. They said that they will keep him safe against the Armenian Mafia if he cooperates. Although Mickey believed that he had the losing end of the bargain, he still agreed. Mickey proceeded to the precinct but drove away to hide in a hotel. Mickey planned to attend Bunchy’s wedding before escaping south.

Due to Mickey's running off, Detective Muncie went ahead and arrested Bunchy. Subsequently, Ray and Bunchy had a heated exchange of words. Muncie told Ray that she has enough evidence to charge and lock up Bunchy for at least seven years. Ray offered to get Mickey in exchange for Bunchy’s freedom. Muncie agreed. Ray eventually found Mickey and convinced him to agree to the sting so Bunchy can get married.

Meanwhile, Bridget (Kerris Dorsey) continued to spend time with her teacher, Mr. Donellen (Aaron Staton). They kissed.

At the wedding reception, Ray shared his happiness for the couple to make up for his fumble the night before. When everything seemed to be doing well, Mickey asked Ray for his help. He said that if he deals with the Minassians again, they will kill him because they already recognise his face. Although Ray initially dismissed Mickey, he eventually contacted Lena (Katherine Moennig) to check on Mrs. Minassian (Grace Zabriskie). Ray still cares for Mickey and has a plan to protect the latter.

In the 10th episode of “Ray Donovan,” titled “One Night in Yerevan,” Carter Matt says that former FBI agent Ed Cochran (Hank Azaria) will be looking into the NFL deal and this is expected to stir up even more trouble for the characters. "Ray Donovan" airs Sunday nights in the US at 9 pm ET/PT on Showtime.
