Qualcomm's latest 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor runs cooler than the Snapdragon 801 SoC. This news comes after Qualcomm's reported struggle with overheating problems pertaining to the Snapdragon 810 chip.

In general, many OEMs limit device performance in order to maintain the running temperature of the body under 45 degrees Celsius. Notably, room temperature is considered to be around 25 degrees Celsius. This means, the acceptable heat could be anywhere between 25 degrees and 45 degrees Celsius for a chipset, notes Phone Arena.

As per the latest report from STJS Gadgets, the Snapdragon 801 chip housed in devices like the HTC One (M8) and the Samsung Galaxy S5 produces more heat when compared to the latest 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip. For instance, the temperature of a Snapdragon 801-powered handset running the power-hungry racing game "Asphalt 8" shot up above the 25 degrees to 45 degrees ambit within 20 minutes into the game play. Meanwhile, a Snapdragon 810-powered device playing the same racing game reportedly did not reach the maximum threshold even after 30 minutes into the game play.

In addition to the racing game test, the difference between the two chips can be seen when capturing 4K videos, says the same site. Apparently, after capturing a 4K video for about five minutes, the Snapdragon 801 handset reached the skin temperature limit, whereas the Snapdragon 810 device was relatively below the ambit.

In any case, the processor that produces less heat will perform better and battery life can also be prolonged. Also, it is worth noting that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip will reportedly be part of many flagship devices coming out this year like HTC One M9 and LG G4.

To further corroborate the strength of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chip, tech website Slashgear has made the Qualcomm Mobile Developer Platform (MDP)-based devices go through benchmark tests. The MDP smartphone features a 2K display and houses a solid 3 GB of RAM. Based on the AnTuTu benchmark testing results, the MDP smartphone has clocked a total score of 61,692 points. To put it in perspective, the most powerful smartphone is reportedly the Snapdragon 805-powered Google Nexus 6 with a 2K display. And this handset has clocked only 56,836 points in AnTuTu, says Phone Arena.

It is clear from the scores that the upcoming Snapdragon 810-powered devices will be the ones to look out for. Adding a cherry on top, the Snapdragon 810-powered devices will reportedly support global LTE and come with advanced GPU performance and wireless charging support, in addition to keeping the skin temperature relatively low.
