"Vampire Diaries" star Paul Wesley is going to be busy juggling his job as an actor, producer and director in the CW TV series and a new movie project. The latest reports claim that the TVD actor is set to star and produce in the upcoming sci-fi action film titled "Convergence."

According to a Deadline report, the upcoming film is described as a college-age combination of "Flatliners," "The Matrix" and "Fight Club" where a group of underground biotech engineers explore a new technology that is beyond their expectations and the limits of human control. Paul Wesley's character in "Convergence" will be different from the role he is portraying in "The Vampire Diaries."

"I was looking for indies to separate me from the younger material. Now I'm looking for flawed characters, because my (Vampire Diaries) character is very heroic. My character in Convergence is not the protagonist but is the guy who pushes things a little too far, and too hard, and produces some scary results," the 32-year-old actor explained.

Jonathan Lim, the CEO of Crimson Forest Entertainment shared that the upcoming film's production team is very excited to work with actor Paul Wesley. Mr. Lim further added that the team believes "Convergence" will be successful with the film viewers worldwide.

"The film's plotline and cast of characters align perfectly with our distribution objectives and we look forward to hitting the ground running in 2015 with a talented cast and crew," the CEO stated. Filming schedule is set to kick off next spring with locations in Shanghai and Atlanta.

Currently, Paul Wesley stars in "The Vampire Diaries" as vampire Stefan Salvatore. In the sixth season of the CW TV series, the actor is also set to return to the director's chair for the second time around.

Paul Wesley made his directorial debut in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5, episode 18 titled "Resident Evil." In "The Vampire Diaries" Season 6, a THR report claims the cast member will be the director of episode 11 titled "Woke Up With a Monster" which is scheduled to air in January 2015 marking the return of the TV series after its mid-season break.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 airs on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET on the CW Network.
