The mid-season finale episode titled "The Map of Moments" reunited the Mikaelson siblings in spending the holidays together even for a brief moment and in teaming up on a plan against their manipulative mother, Esther (Sonja Sohn). Rebekah's (Claire Holt) involvement in the plan has defined the upcoming storyline of "The Originals" Season 2 when the CW spinoff series returns in 2015.

Spoiler Alert: This feature contains major spoilers on "The Originals" Season 2, episode 9 titled "The Map of Moments."

In December 1914, Kol (Nathaniel Buzolic) succeeded in getting the paragon diamond from the dowager that he killed in order to use it in creating a dagger for Klaus (Joseph Morgan). However, Kol's plan was put to a stop when Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Klaus took the diamond from him.

The Original hybrid also had Kol's witch friends, Mary-Alice (Keri Lynn Pratt) and Astrid (Aleeah Rogers), locked up in the dead dowager's mansion. At present time, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah are at the Mikaelson safe house with Hope waiting for her parents, Klaus and Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) to arrive.

Elijah gets upset with Rebekah who snapped his neck when they were at the diner. Rebekah argued that there is something wrong with his behavior but the Original vampire insisted that he meant no harm and he is there to protect his sister and niece.

Kol (Daniel Sharman) and Davina (Danielle Campbell) work on a spell that will protect Cami (Leah Pipes) once Esther puts her body-jump plan in motion. Cami wants to talk to Finn (Yusuf Gatewood) with the hopes that the Mikaelson sibling will listen to her and tell his mother to call of her plan.

However, Cami and Finn's conversation ended on a threatening note when Finn swore that once he is free, he will get back at his enemies and anyone who stands in his way including Cami if she will. Esther finally confronts Mikael (Sebastian Roché) to talk about her plans for their children.

Klaus and Hayley arrive at the safe house and the two are reunited with their baby daughter Hope. Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah were also reunited for the first time after parting ways in "The Originals" Season 1 and the siblings decided to do a family tradition.

Klaus agrees to take a family selfie photo but after realizing that if the picture ends in the wrong hands, it could mean trouble for Hope so and the photo was burned. Rebekah thinks it is unfair that they could not even take a family picture because Esther is a threat so the blonde vampire decided that she will agree to their mother's deal and then take the Original witch down with her.

Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah discussed the plan where Rebekah will make their mother work on the body-jump spell but they must be able to kill her before she could change bodies. If things did not work out, they will still find a way to get Rebekah right back to her own body.

Kol agrees to help find a different body for Rebekah to temporarily jump into but he wants the dowager's diamond in return. Additionally, Kol wants to have the White Oak Stake before coming home to Esther but the Mikaelson sibling assures that he will return the weapon once the plan is finished.

With Klaus and Rebekah gone at the safe house, Hayley talks to Elijah about the sacrificial marriage with Jackson (Nathan Parsons) that can free the werewolves from the witches' control and make them have power over their transformation any time they want. Elijah looked hurt but he told Hayley to marry Jackson and do what she needs in order to bring home her daughter in a safe place.

When Hayley walked away, Elijah pulled her back to kiss her. The Hayley-Elijah or "Haylijah" shippers will be happy for the pair because the scene ended with the two characters having sex on a table.

Kol returned to Esther with the White Oak Stake and then Rebekah arrived to tell her mother that she is willing to listen to her deal over a bottle of red wine. Then, Rebekah told Esther that she is in with her plan and they head to the cemetery to do the body-jump spell.

Things were going exactly as planned with Davina linking an hourglass to Esther's hourglass to prevent the witch from jumping her or Rebekah into Cami. However, everything changed when Esther took out the White Oak Stake and revealed that she will use it to destroy Rebekah's vampire body.

Rebekah asks her mother to stop the spell because destroying her body was not part of the deal. Klaus also shows up at the cemetery asking his mother to stop the spell but Esther told the Original hybrid that she made an alliance with Mikael.

Klaus stabs Esther on the neck just in time for Davina to work on the spell that will prevent the witch or Rebekah jump into the body of Cami. Then, Cami and Rebekah collapse at the same time.

Klaus brings Rebekah's body to the French Quarter while Marcel discovers that someone let Finn out of his coffin. Klaus tells Marcel that Mikael is now doing the dirty work for Esther before Cami wakes up and is relieved to be still herself.

When Rebekah did not wake up, Klaus revealed that he and his sister took extra precautions so Esther is now where she needs to be. Davina notices that Kol is in a good mood and the Mikaelson sibling shared that he can now proceed with his plan against Klaus now that Rebekah is in the prison that the Original hybrid created.

Esther wakes up and questions Klaus what he did to her. The Original hybrid responded that he did what every child would do which is to follow the example of his parents.

Klaus further revealed to Esther that she died with vampire blood in her system. The blood came from Rebekah, who put it in Esther's glass of red wine while they were discussing her offer. "So now, you can be either the thing you hate the most or you can be dead. Your choice," Klaus tells Esther after throwing a bag of blood on the floor.

Kol hands back the White Oak Stake to Klaus over Rebekah's body on her coffin. As for Rebekah, the ending scene showed what Kol did to his sister. Rebekah wakes up in a different body and is now locked up in the dowager's mansion.
