President of UFO Research (NWS), Marian Flynn, confirmed that Collaroy was a UFO hotspot, Manly Daily reports.

"I don't know why it's considered a hot spot to be honest, but I have wondered about underground sea bases. Unfortunately there is no proof of this, but I have conclusively seen three UFO sightings. I absolutely believe there are UFOs, but all of the (US military) research is so covert and classified," Flynn said.

The same thing was said by UFO Research NSW spokesman Doug Moffett in a previous interview with Manly Daily, noting that sightings were usual along northern beaches.

"I know there's been many stories in The Manly Daily over the years, particularly around the Narrabeen Lakes area. It tends to be an area where from time to time there seems to be activity. We are not sure of course why that's the case."

Flynn and Moffett were speaking in relation to a reported UFO sighting in early morning Wednesday.

A resident, Don Jeffery, took pictures of a strange flying object hovering Dee Why Beach.

He said that he noticed curious crowd gathering in one spot along the shore while he was doing his early morning run.

"A lot of people were gazing skywards, about 20 or 30, and I asked what it was. Some of them thought it could be a UFO and another person suggested it was a plane coming in to land, but it stayed in the same spot for 10 minutes and it looked like it had a tail," Jeffery said.

While Jeffery would not believe what he saw was UFO, he was affirmative it was not an airplane either.

"I took three photos but I didn't think much more about it until I came home from work and enlarged the photo on my computer. It's brighter than the sun and it looked like a disc-like object - I've never seen anything like it before. I like to keep an open mind and with all of those galaxies out there I think there must be other life," Jeffery shared.

Back in 2011, a man saw two UFOs flying above Collaroy while in 2012 another Dee Why man saw two UFOs over northern beaches.
