Ndamukong Suh will officially hit free agency on March 10, 2015 and if the Detroit Lions and the star defensive tackle doesn’t agree to a contract, expect the New York Giants to chase the prized free agent in this offseason of the National Football League, or NFL.

The New York Daily News, stating unnamed sources, is reporting that several in the league confirm that the Giants are considering making a run at the NFL’s best free agent available.

The Giants recently retained another star defensive player in Jason Pierre-Paul, who was applied the “franchise tag” on Tuesday and acquiring Suh in this offseason will make the New York team even more potent on defence for the upcoming 2015 NFL Season.

The Lions have every intention in re-signing Suh to a long-term deal according to reports but teams like New York along with other NFL squads like the Jacksonville Jaguars, Oakland Raiders, Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins are expected to at least try to acquire the star defensive tackle if he hits the open market.

The Lions have decided against using the “franchise tag” on Ndamukong Suh because of the huge salary owed to him in the 2015 season if he’s tagged. But the franchise has said that they still want Suh back with the team not only for a single season. It would cost the Lions huge money against the team salary cap but the franchise is reportedly willing to give Suh a contract similar to those of J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans and Gerald McCoy of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, both elite defenders in the NFL and have large contracts.

Suh was drafted second overall in the 2010 Draft and has played all five seasons in his career with the Lions. Suh has made five NFL Pro Bowls in 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Suh was also named to the NFL First Team All Pro four times in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014.
