Greg Hardy remains one of the top free agent targets in the 2015 offseason of the National Football League, or NFL and the defensive will be meeting with officials Dallas Cowboys and reportedly already set to take a physical with the team on Wednesday. Other teams like the Seattle Seahawks and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have showed interest in the elite but controversial defensive player.

Hardy was one of the best in his position in the league in 2012 and 2013 becoming a top-notch pass rusher for the Carolina Panthers. Adam Schefter, NFL Insider for ESPN, is reporting that there is no agreement yet between the Cowboys and Hardy which means that the Seahawks or Buccaneers might have a chance in still getting him in this offseason.

According to recent reports, also from Schefter, Hardy is set to take a physical exam with the Cowboys on Wednesday but recent supposed signings like Frank Gore to Philadelphia Eagles and Jordan Cameron to Cleveland Browns did not pan out as Gore eventually went to the Indianapolis Colts and Cameron went to the Miami Dolphins.

Hardy’s potential is big but his domestic abuse case puts him in a tough spot as he finds a willing team that will risk with his off the field issues. In June 2014, Hardy was convicted of assaulting a partner and by Week 2 in the 2014 NFL Season he was deactivated by the Panthers. He played in only 1 game for the Panthers last season and is currently in the Commissioner’s Exempt List.

Hardy was an NFL Pro Bowler in 2013 and made the NFL All-Pro Second Team that season. He still holds the Panthers’ single season sack record with 15 and the Panthers’ single-game sack record with 4 in the 2013 season. For his career, Hardy is credited 204 tackles, 34 sacks and 7 forced fumbles.
