In case, readers have been wondering what happened to the Moto flagship for this year, look no further, as Motorola is reportedly gearing up to release the Moto X 2015, following the releases from Samsung, LG and HTC. Not too long ago in September 2014, the tech giant apparently introduced the second-generation Moto X. However, within 6 months, the third-generation Moto X is already making waves.

Speaking of the current generation Moto X, even though, the handset comes with high-end specifications, the Motorola DROID Turbo and Motorola-made Nexus 6 outperformed the X series with cutting-edge configurations. But then, what is in store for the third-generation Moto X 2015? A new report from the credible tipster site STJS Gadgets says, the new Moto X 2015 specifications will reportedly include a 5.2-inch display complemented by a killer 2K resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. This display combination translates to a pixel density of 565 ppi. The predecessor, on the other hand, comes with the same display however the resolution is 1,080 x 1,920 pixels. It is worth noting that, the new Moto X shares the same resolution as the monstrous DROID Turbo handset, notes Phone Arena.

When it comes to the hardware component, the Moto X 2015 will reportedly be powered by a hexa-core (Qualcomm Snapdragon 808) processor and will be backed by a killer 4 GB of RAM unit. In comparison, the predecessor Moto X 2014 comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip and 2 GB of RAM configuration. Plus, the upcoming smartphone will run on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, straight out of the box, whereas the predecessor runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop. As far as the memory goes, the handset will come equipped with 32 GB and 64 GB of built-in storage capacities, which is same as the 2014 version.

Moving on to the camera specification, the Moto X 2015 will apparently sport a solid 16 MP Clear Pixel rear-facing unit. In addition, there will also be a gracious 5 MP shooter for selfies and video chats. The Moto X 2014, meanwhile, houses a 13 MP primary unit and a 2 MP secondary unit. More importantly, the third-generation Moto X 2015 release date is reportedly set for September. In any case, readers should note that, Motorola has not confirmed the Moto X 2015 specifications, features and release date thus far.
