Meghan Markle’s TV dad has an advice to her real one about how to love the Duchess of Sussex. Wendell Pierce, who plays the father of Meghan’s character, Rachel Zane, on “Suits,” wished Thomas Markle would display a bit of discretion when calling out for his daughter.

Thomas has been on a media campaign to get his daughter and Prince Harry to talk to him again. The Emmy Award-winning lighting director claimed the couple had stopped all communications with him after he was caught making a deal with the paparazzi. He has since been talking to the press, asking Meghan and Harry to reach out to him.

But for Pierce, Thomas has been going at it the wrong way. The 54-year-old actor has offered sage advice to Meghan’s real-life father, saying Thomas should take his concerns with the Duchess privately.

“If you care about Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, then that should be the first and foremost in your mind before you say anything,” Pierce, who plays Robert Zane in the show, told the Telegraph. “If you love your daughter, just love your daughter. It’s not for public consumption.’’

Like Thomas, Pierce also did not attend Meghan and Harry’s wedding in May. Other “Suits” stars — Gabriel Macht, Patrick J Adams, Rickk Hoffman, Sarah Rafferty and Gina Torres — were all present with their significant others. However, when Meghan’s Rachel got married in the show, Pierce said he had a moment with Meghan during the episode’s filming.

“We had a moment I cherish,” he said. “I was sitting with Meghan in her wedding dress, as we waited for a set-up. We were alone. I said to her, ‘Your life is going to change. It’s going to be amazing and I’m very happy for you, but I want you to know that I’m your friend, and no matter where you are or what’s going on — if the fishbowl that you’re in ever starts getting to you — you can call me.”

Meghan left the show at its season 7 finale, which was aired in April in the US. Her real wedding to Harry was held the following month.
