Even Philippine forensics are stumped by what kind of drug that two of five victims of a Philippine outdoor concert took which not only caused their death but heavily damaged their internal organs. A medico legal officer of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) says the victims seems to have swallowed an explosive.

Wilfredo Tierra says that there was bleeding in the internal organs, such as the brain, lungs, liver, intestines, spleen and kidney, of Bianca Fontejon, 18, and Lance Garcia,36, who attended the Closeup Forever Summer concert sponsored by the toothpaste company on Saturday at the Mall of Asia. All their internal organs were damaged which bore signs of ruptured tissues or blood vessels.

Their hearts appeared like it was grilled because of the mixture of brown, red and black colour. Tierra, who has been performing autopsies for the NBI for the past 20 years, says it is the first time he saw something like this. He describes the cause of the death of the two partygoers to a severe and extreme form of a heart attack since all parts of the heart were involved, reports Inquirer.

There was bleeding and swelling in their brains and large intestines and signs on hemorrhage in a big part of their lungs. “We will take this as a whole. Heart attack was not the only cause of death. If what was taken was ingested, the whole body was affected,” Tierra explains.

The NBI’s forensic unit is still finalising the report on the results of the toxicology and dangerous drug tests done on the two. The two other victims, Eric Anthony Miller and Ken Migawa, suffered sudden cardiac death, according to the autopsy report.
