Medical report shows that “Rizzoli & Isles” actor, Lee Thompson Young used handgun to end his life. The latest report by TMZ is consistent with earlier claims that the former Disney star took his own life when found dead on Aug. 20. He was 29.

Without a suicide note, Young’s family and friends are left in the dark regarding the drastic step taken by the Smallville actor. He was at the middle of a project with TNT when he died and this has raised confusion why he would take his own life.

It will be recalled that police found his body at his home in North Hollywood when his colleagues at TNT requested to check on him following his failure to come for work. He was expected to come to the day’s shooting of TNT’s crime drama, “Rizzoli & Isles.”

Lee, who rose to fame for his role as a teen star for Disney Channel’s “The Famous Jet Jackson,” plays the role of a young detective, Barry Frost in “Rizzoli & Isles.”

“Lee was more than just a brilliant young actor, he was a wonderful and gentle soul who will be truly missed. We ask that you please respect the privacy of his family and friends as this very difficult time,” Lee’s manager, Paul Baruch said in a statement immediately following Thompson’s death, noted in a separate IBTimes-AU report.

His positive energy, among others was highlighted in a joint statement issued by TNT, Warner Bros and series producer, Janet Tamaro.

The statement said: “We are beyond heartbroken at the loss of this sweet, gentle, good-hearted, intelligent man. … Lee will be cherished and remembered by all who knew and loved him, both on- and offscreen, for his positive energy, infectious smile and soulful grace.”

Aside from “Rizzoli & Isles, Young also appeared in a number of hit TV series, including, “The Guardian,” “Scrubs,” and “Smallville.” He was also featured in “Akeelah and the Bee” and “The Hills Have Eyes II.”
