It is time to prepare for war in “John Wick 3.” In a recent interview, Keanu Reeves (John Wick) revealed the title of the film, which teases the plot of the film. The story picks up from right where things ended in “Chapter 2,” and now the protagonist is on the run and fighting for his life.

The title of the next film is “John Wick 3: Parabellum,” Reeves said in an interview with ComingSoon. The word Parabellum, the actor explained, means “prepare for war.” “It’s part of that famous sentence, ‘Si vis pacem, para bellum,’ which translates as, ‘If you want peace, prepare for war,’” Reeves said.

Each film from the franchise is a little different. The first film was about revenge, the second focussed more on world-building and explaining the significance of the Continental, and Reeves says that the next movie will have an emotional angle.

One way to bring the emotion in the film is by the introduction of the new character Sofia (Halle Berry), a character who has a past with John. The first two films showed the hero to be a one-man army against his enemies, and now he seems to be getting a love interest.

Reeves explained that his character is fighting for his life, and John thinks that Sofia has some information that will be useful for him. The two will “get involved with The High Table, this kind of overlording entity,” Reeves said.

John is on the run after his membership was revoked from the Continental in the last film, after he killed a member of the High Table on hotel grounds, something that is strictly forbidden. The Continental’s manager Winston (Ian McShane) gave the hero an hour’s head start, and then a bounty on his head will come into effect. This will be the starting point of the next film.
