In this week’s episode of “Jane The Virgin,” Jane needs to deal with the aftermath of rejecting Rafael’s marriage proposal. Meanwhile, episode 16 deals with even more relationships. Reconciled ex-lovers become a recurring theme in the episode when Rafael and his ex-wife Petra find themselves getting along for a common goal. Jane and her ex-fiancé Michael are also starting to rebuild a friendship. Even Michael’s ex-girlfriend Andi makes an appearance.

After Rafael surprised Jane with a proposal and she declined, he was hurt and started to distance himself from Jane. In episode 16, Jane feels guilty for turning down the proposal so she decides to set up a romantic evening with Rafael. She sets out some wine and cheese plus his favourite music. Unfortunately, Rafael still isn’t feeling the vibe even after Jane’s peace offering. She tells him that he proposed too soon. She explains that turning him down doesn’t mean that she doesn’t love him or want to be with him but she just felt that he was being impulsive. Frustrated, Jane decides to just focus on her writing which could take her mind off with Rafael.

While attempting to write her romance novel, Jane encounters a writer’s block. She is unable to come up with anything. Luckily for her, her ex-fiance Michael has learned that there will be a romance novelist workshop in her area. Jane hopes that this will help unblock her mind. Unfortunately the overly positive approach of the group’s head played by guest star Jane Seymour does not work well for Jane. To make things more complicated, Michael’s ex-girlfriend Andi is in the same writer’s group.

Eventually, Rafael comes up to Jane and admits that he proposed too soon. He says he did it because he was afraid that she would leave. The two of them reconcile and focus on other pressing matters. Jane encourages Rafael to look for his mother.

Meanwhile, Rafael also has to deal with his hotel. He and his ex-wife Petra find themselves working together to save the hotel. After teaming up to get rid of Lachlan, they are now finding it easy to work together despite their past issues. This newfound connection makes Petra think twice about her feelings for her ex-husband.

In other relationship news, Xo and Rogelio are still intent on moving in together. Xo initially thought it was just a simple matter of finding a place but Rogelio proves to be a bigger diva than she expected. Apart from Rogelio’s unreasonable demands and expectations, Alba is opposing the move. The traditional and conservative lady thinks Xo should not be living with a man she isn’t married to. After all, she also inspired Jane’s vow t stay a virgin until after marriage. More telenovela-style relationship issues are to be expected when “Jane The Virgin” returns next Monday at 9 pm on The CW.
