“Grimm” Season 4, episode 13, titled “Trial By Fire,” aired on Friday the 13th on NBC. The incredible fight between Juliette (Bitsie Tulloch) and Adalind (Claire Coffee) would not be soon forgotten. This is easily one of the best episodes of the series. Fans who have skipped several episodes should come back to see how two Hexenbiests fight for their life.

Spoiler alert: This review contains “Grimm” Season 4 spoilers. Read on at your own risk if you have not watched up to the latest episode of the NBC fantasy series.

There are three superb developments in “Grimm” Season 4, episode 13. One, Nick (David Giuntoli) adds a modern-day toy, a water gun, to his ancestors’ anti-Wesen weapon collection. Two, Juliette comes out to Nick as a Hexenbiest. Three, Juliette sends Adalind running for her life.

From a wallflower, Juliette has turned into a fierce and powerful Hexenbiest that has so far killed a member of the Tribunal (which nearly killed Monroe) and a Wesen mercenary. In “Grimm” Season 4, episode 13, she almost kills Adalind and the latter knows it to be true.

"Grimm" 4x13 may be too much to grasp for an audience who has skipped numerous episodes. A first time viewer could not possibly appreciate the weight of the remarkable scenes as an avid viewer would. That said, this could be the episode that convinces non-"Grimm" fans to start watching or catching up.

The Feb. 13 episode starts with a Wesen that turns his entire body into flames, the perfect bad guy to hire for arson-related evil plans. Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) needs to work with an old enemy to beat the villain of the week. On top of that, he and his wife Rosalee (Bree Turner) has to sell the idea of a toy gun as weapon of choice.

Scattered throughout “Grimm” Season 4, episode 14 are scenes featuring Adalind and Viktor (Alexis Denisof). Juliette killing a Manticore in episode 13 are still fresh in the avid viewers’ memories. It would be understandable if the showrunners wait a bit longer before pitting Juliette against Adalind. That the writers dove right into it was an excellent choice.

Juliette woges into her Hexenbiest form before Nick in the final moments of “Grimm” Season 4, episode 13. Nick’s reaction is suspended for episode 14.

Juliette’s been told in the previous episode that this is who she is now –it’s permanent and she’s extremely powerful. Adalind had no idea; in fact, she still thinks Nick is no longer a Grimm.

“Grimm” has always been a fascinating series to watch for lovers of dark fantasy characters. With Juliette thrown into the Wesen mix, Season 4 is expected to expand the stories in more fantastic ways. Fans are hoping for program creators Stephen Carpenter, David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf to get more seasons. (NBC ordered a fifth season.)

“Grimm” airs Fridays on NBC.
