Google Inc. just confirmed that the company will be unveiling their Moto X phone on August 1. The Motorola division of the company sent out email invitations to the media last week, indicating the words "Moto X." The event will take place in New York City and will finally unveil the smartphone from Google.

Sending out invites with "Moto X" in bold letters and an image of young people holding the phone, Google will finally introduce their mobile offering. Since their acquisition of Motorola, the company has been working on the Moto X phone.

Google bought Motorola for US$12.5 billion. Motorola always yielded their market share to either Apple or Samsung. Most of the smartphones from the company did not gain positive market reception. Google wanted to overturn that. The plan started with the Motor X phone.

Analysts pointed out the importance of the phone delivering a good market reception. Since its acquisition, Motorola dragged the profit margins of Google. The company's second-quarter losses amounted to US$342 million.

There was also a Web page dedicated to the invitation saying, "Come experience the new Motorola. No Stage. No crowds." The page requested guests to choose from a range of "sessions" for different times.

Nexus 7

The new Google Nexus 7 did not make an appearance at Google's I/P developer's convention. However, news about the product sprung up constantly. According to reports, Google will be releasing the product around July or sometime this summer. The first installment of the Nexus was a success. Many consumers were expecting the second one to do just as great.

The HTC One Mini

The HTC One managed to gain a good reception. It remained a highly recommended smartphone. However, many users also prefered something smaller. It was no surprise that HTC was actually working on a smaller version of their smartphone. The HTC One mini was also on its way. HTC has yet to announce the final details of the specs and the release date. The latest reports indicated the release should be around August.

A trio of new Droid Razr devices

Last 2012, Motorola Droid Razr phones had it going for them. The Razr HD, Razr HD Maxx, and Razr M all featured exceptional rugged designs, user-friendly interface and excellent battery life. The phones fell short of the hardware though, and Motorola was working on better versions. The company planned on replacing the entire line with improved handsets.

It seemed androids had a lot going on for the rest of the year. People will have to wait which offerings can deliver.
