Fans have been speculating for quite some time that there could be a change in arc after this coming episode of “The Flash” and, indeed, there are big chances that story could change to address a bigger issue for Barry (Grant Gustin) and his crew. Season 3 episode 9 will throw in a new challenge in front of them and take them by surprise.

This will be something that the team has never faced before. Andrew Kreisberg himself revealed that the midseason finale will create a new problem for the heroes that they did not see coming. He also adds that the threat is so huge they might even change the saga from Flashpoint to a new threat, which would guide the second half of the season.

While it has not yet been revealed what threat this is, some speculators say that it will feature the return of Trickster, who is played by Mark Hamill on the show. This character has an uncanny resemblance to DC’s Joker and is expected to be the Earth-3 version of The Trickster. Other rumours say that Jay Garick, who helps Barry take down Savitar, might die soon.

In the episode titled “The Present,” Barry will appear to be out of his mind and will not be able to feel the Christmas spirit. His relationship with Iris will be occupied as he puts in efforts to take down Alchemy and Savitar. It is not yet known what the future holds for them, but Barry is already sure that messing with the timelines have ruined the course of his romance.

The Flash” airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. on The CW. It also airs on FOX8 in Australia.
