How Doctor Doom will play out in “Fantastic Four” remains unclear. Fans were supposedly anticipating to get a glimpse of the villain in the recently released trailer to get some understanding on Doctor Doom's role in the story. However, the villain was not featured. But Doctor Doom is said to be a central character in the film and viewers would reportedly get to know more about him through a backstory.

Doctor Doom’s presence in the movie was merely hinted in the trailer. The villain himself wasn’t seen with his mask and costume. However, “Fantastic Four” producer Simon Kinberg revealed the character is an essential part of the story. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Kinberg revealed the reboot will give Doctor Doom (Toby Kebbell) equal screen time next to his superhero enemies. Simon hinted “Fantastic Four” will reveal a little bit of the villain’s backstory. "He has aspirations and struggles that are a little bit more classically tragic than the other characters. As much as it's an origin story of our heroes, it also tracks how someone can become a villain,” he said.

According to Screenrant, the success of “Fantastic Four” will rely heavily on how Doctor Doom will be represented in the film. The villain’s name has reportedly been subject to a lot of controversies, especially with his name believed to have been coined from “blogging sites.” It’s still unclear just how deadly the iconic villain will be in the reboot since Doctor Doom wasn’t shown in action in the trailer. It now boils down to how well Kebbell can bring life to the character. The actor reportedly made a name for himself in “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” for playing the role of Caesar’s nemesis Koba. Per Screenrant, Kebbell’s characterisation of the villain ape was pleasing to watch on screen.

Toby Kebbell previously revealed Doctor Doom in the “Fantastic Four” reboot is actually named Victor Domashev and not Victor Von Doom. In an interview with Collider, the actor claimed his character is a programmer and a very anti-social person. However, on blogging sites the villain is merely called “Doom.”
