After 12 amazing episodes Fox’s “Empire” ended with an all-time high that left many fans stunned from its epic Season 1 finale. Executive producer Ilene Chaikan recently revealed the daunting task in following the success of “Empire” Season 1 success and the meaningful bond that the cast members formed while filming the show.

“It’s daunting,” Chaikan told Variety after the show’s massive success. “I know the show has so much life in it. It’s a very, very well conceived television show. We haven’t begun to run out of (story) opportunities. The thing that’s daunting is the amount of dedication it takes to make it.”

Now the million dollar question is will the show extend the 12 episodes of “Empire” or will they stick to the original. Chaikan revealed that they are currently working on it as she expect that all writers are going back to the “writer’s room” sometime next month. There are some speculations that “Empire” Season 2 is going back this fall with “16 or so episodes.”

She also admitted that every cast and crew members loved working on the show as they all share a great passion and conviction since the start of the show. Dedicated for a mission in delivering a great show, each member of the cast and crew shared a meaningful bond long before the show hit the big time.

“Empire” defied all odds in television and has been a jaw-dropping success for Fox since the show premiere in January. The show’s audience grew each week’s airings and has an average of more than 24 million viewers, according to Fox’s 30-day projections.

Meanwhile, “Empire’s” phone has been ringing nonstop with celebrities asking showrunners Lee Daniels and Danny Strong to cast them for the show’s next season. Strong revealed during an interview that they are open to a number of power players who will play alongside Terence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Jussie Smollett, Trai Byers and Bryshere Y. Gray.

Queen of all media Oprah Winfrey is reportedly gong to join the cast for “Empire” Season 2 and Daniels is currently courting her for a role. Denzel Washington’s name came up often when it comes to the show’s guest list. Other stars who are rumoured to play a guest role include Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and Kanye West.
