It has been confirmed that Britney Spears will play a guest role in “Jane the Virgin” Season 2. The CW series showrunner, Jennie Snyder Urman, recently revealed some details about Spears' character.

“We've got Britney Spears. We're just so excited, and I'm still freaking out,” Urman said in an interview with ETonline. She described Spears’ role as music-related and exaggerated.

Urman revealed that she was reading Twitter when she saw tweets about how Spears loves “Jane the Virgin.” After reading that, the executive producer immediately added Spears' name on top of the list of the guest actors that they want to rope in for the sophomore season.

According to Urman, she and her team of writers wanted to write a great story for Spears' guest-starring role on “Jane the Virgin” Season 2. They came up with a character that Spears loved -- a rival of Rogelio de la Vega (Jaime Camil), the self-involved, famous telenovela star and biological father of Jane Gloriana Villanueva (Gina Rodriguez).

In addition, Urman revealed that the guest role is an exaggerated version of Spears, and the character will make an appearance in episode 5 of "Jane the Virgin” Season 2. It will be similar to the guest role played by Paulina Rubio in the first season.

In “Jane the Virgin” Season 1, Camil’s character mentioned Spears' name when he was pitching the idea of having his own Las Vegas residency, just for one night. Urman said it was just a coincidence. Spears stars in Las Vegas residency show titled “Britney: Piece of Me.”

Spears recently won the Candie’s Style Icon award at the 2015 Teen Choice Awards.
