It's an exciting time for the fans of "The Big Bang theory." The series' favourite couple Sheldon (Jim Parsons) and Amy (Mayim Bialik) are soon getting back together, and not only that, it is confirmed that they will be finally having sex.

The Dec. 17 episode of "The Big Bang Theory" Season 9 is going to see an important plot twist. The now separated couple, Sheldon and Amy, will be burying the proverbial hatchet and are getting back together. They will be seen having sex.

Executive producer of "The Big Bang Theory" Steve Molaro confirmed that Sheldon and Amy are going to "seal the relationship deal" for the first time, saying, "After over five years of dating, we felt the time was right for Sheldon and Amy to finally consummate their relationship, and we're so excited for the audience to see the journey over the next several episodes."

This moment will be a major milestone in Sheldon and Amy's relationship. They have been stuck on holding hands and kissing when it comes to physical intimacy, although Amy has made it clear on various occasions that she would like to enjoy all the aspects of a normal relationship.

Authur Jeffries's ghost, played by Emmy-winner Bob Newhart, will appear in the December episode as a Jedi ghost in Sheldon's dream to help him cope with his feelings and make a very important decision, according to reports.

"It's worth noting that the episode will have a Star Wars storyline as 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' opens mere hours after this installment airs," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In Episode 9 of "The Big Bang Theory" Season 9 that aired on Thursday in the U.S., Sheldon and Amy decide to go out together on Thanksgiving as friends. They go to an Aquarium, where Amy realises how much she missed Sheldon. Later, while on her way to her mother's place, Amy calls Sheldon to tell him she is ready to be his girlfriend again. Sheldon, however, turns her down saying, "I excel at many things, but getting over you, isn't one of them."
