“Insurgent” star Ansel Elgort has a lot to say about hookups. The young star does not believe in hooking up for the “coolness” of it and said that unless a person is really in love, there is nothing cool about hookups.

Even though he is a heartthrob, especially after being a household name since bagging the lead role in the movie the “Fault in our Stars” and starring as Caleb Prior in the “Divergent” series, Elgort does not believe in casual affairs or meaningless sex. Gracing the April cover of Seventeen magazine, the actor shared that he does not sleep around. “You can go on dates and hook up with girls, but unless you’re in love with someone, it’s not that cool,” Elgort shared. “Someone once told me we have in our minds who we want and often those aren’t the people we actually want,” he added.

He recounted his own experience of chasing after a girl who he thought was perfect for her because she qualified for all the criteria he set when it comes to being the perfect woman for her but in the end realised that he did not feel anything for the person. On the same interview, he shared that despite being on screen love partners in the “Fault in our Stars” with his co-star Shailene Woodley, he never felt anything romantic towards her.

This is not the first time that the young actor opened up about sex and getting intimate with a girl. In the March issue of Elle, he said he lost his virginity at 14, but it was not that of a good and memorable experience for him because he had no clue of what he was doing. He also added that in relationships, it is not always the sex that matters. “Real romance” for him is more important than sex. He explained that it is more important to him to be around someone he really like and have a real conversation with than have terrible sex with random girls. He also said he like girls who he can watch concerts with or someone who can appreciate his love for the “Grand Theft Auto” game than someone he can just have sex with.
