According to reports, the Nexus device users, especially Nexus 5, have been haunted by a critical memory leak problem noticed in the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update. However, even after rolling out the Android 5.1 Lollipop update, this issue seems to persist for the Nexus users. The good news, however, is that Google has finally fixed the memory leak issue specific to the Nexus devices. And notably, the new release is believed to be the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. Meanwhile, the long-awaited Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update for first-generation Moto X is official now.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update For Nexus Devices

Phone Arena has ferreted out the memory leak fix via the Issue Tracker page pertaining to the AOSP Website. This problem is reportedly tied to “Issue 159738,” with the title "Memory leak still present on Android 5.1." But then, Google has apparently closed the problem. Therefore, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update release date could be anytime soon, notes the same site.

Speaking of the memory leak problem, Google has internally fixed the issue specific to the Nexus devices. And the reported plan is to send out the fix via the upcoming Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update for Nexus devices. The memory leak problem apparently targets several apps in the device like Google+ and restarts the specific apps automatically, without any prompt.

To further the existing woes, several active apps reportedly vanish while they are being used. The worst of all the problems has apparently come in the form of unprecedented RAM drops. According to reports, the RAM capacity automatically descends between roughly 750 MB and 800 MB from 1.1 GB and 1.3 GB. And importantly, a vast majority of such complaints have come from the widely-used Nexus 5 smartphone. But then, readers should note that, other Nexus devices have also been facing the memory leak problem. Some Nexus users have also noted that, upon opening an app, the RAM amount reportedly increases. However, the device doesn’t reduce the RAM usage level upon closing the same app, notes Phone Arena.

Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Update For First-Generation Moto X

On the other hand, Motorola has been updating its devices to Google’s Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update in batches. Notably, the second-generation Moto X has reportedly been updated to the latest OS version. However, the first-generation Moto X is currently running the KitKat OS. But then, based on the latest soak test report, some members of Motorola's official support forums have started receiving the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update on their first-generation Moto X smartphones. Meanwhile, readers should note that, Motorola will not be updating the first-generation Moto X to Android 5.1 Lollipop update, notes Luciano Carvalho from Motorola Mobility via Google+.
