After the Android 5.0 Lollipop was made available for the Nexus 5, many users have started complaining about poor battery life of the device. A recent battery life test conducted by GSM Arena has revealed the negative impact of Android 5.0 Lollipop on the battery performance of the device.

Nexus 5 Talk Time Test
The LG Nexus 5 recorded a talk time of 16 hours and 40 minutes on Android 4.4 KitKat. However, after the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, the talk time performance of the device was reduced to 10 hours.

Nexus 5 Internet Browsing Time Test
With Android 4.4 KitKat, the Nexus 5 delivers an internet browsing time of 4 hours and 46 minutes. After the arrival of Android 5.0 Lollipop, there has been no improvement in this segment.

Nexus 5 Video Playback Test
The Nexus 5 with Android 4.4 KitKat onboard lasted for few minutes over 6 hours on continuous video playback. However, the Android 5.0 Lollipop powered Nexus 5 could only lost for 5 hours.

Android Pit states that the test was conducted on Nexus 5 with Android 5.0 Lollipop OS. Currently, some of the Android devices are receiving the 5.0.2 Lollipop that is known for improving the performance of the device. However, Android Pit claims that this update will not help in improving the battery life.

Android 5.1 Lollipop Update For Nexus 5 According to the International Business Times reported that was published on Feb. 5, Google has rolled out the new Android 5.1 Lollipop silently. It further states that the new build is expected to arrive soon on the Nexus 5, the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9 tablet.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop is expected to bring along new features and improvements such as better management of RAM, bug fixes for unexpected crashing of apps, Wi-Fi connection problems, issues related to notifications, arrival of silent mode and Okay Google have been fixed and lastly it is also expected to improve the battery life of the device.

Fresh news published on Phone Arena reveals that a Nexus 5 preloaded with Android 5.1 Lollipop was seen on website of Geekbench benchmark. However, as of this writing, there is no confirmation from Google on Android 5.1 Lollipop for Nexus 5.
