"American Idol" 2014 (Season 13) on FOX will reveal the Top 4 contestants on Thursday's (May 1) results show. Based only on the Top 5 performance night, it looks like Sam Woolf is in trouble. Jessica Meuse was in the bottom two in the past two weeks. But Jess showed a lot of improvement on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Alex Preston could be sitting pretty all through the finale. Will there be surprises this week?

Who is the most likely to emerge as the American Idol 2014 champ? Who gets eliminated this Top 5 week? Follow this link to read a quick recap of the show's highlights on performance night.

American Idol 2014 Contestants on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook

Sam Woolf, Jessica Meuse, Alex Preston, Jena Irene Asciutto and Caleb Johnson are the Top 5 Idol hopefuls. AI Season 13 judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr have all been supportive of Sam. However, among the five, he has drawn the least solid praises.

Now, consider the Top 5's social media followers. These could be clues to the American Idol Season 13 results show this week. As of this writing, Sam Woolf is leading on Twitter and Instagram. But then on Facebook, he has the least "likes."

Sam Woolf has 78.4K Twitter followers and 134K Instagram followers. Alex Preston and Caleb Johnson have never been in the bottom two or three throughout AI 2014. Alex draws 55K on Twitter and 68K on Instagram. Caleb, 25K and 38K. In contrast, Jena gets 35K and 49K; Jess, 32K and 40K.

The difference in the AI contestants' Facebook "likers" are within only a couple of thousands. They are set the farthest apart on Instagram - where Sam and Alex lead. Jess Meuse and Caleb Johnson are the "Insta bottom two." Will this reflect in the American Idol 2014 Top 5 results? It could.

Caleb rarely makes missteps on AI. His worst faults were always noted in view of high expectations. But on the AI 2014 Top 5 night, Caleb's "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing" (Aerosmith) number was more problematic than all the combined missteps he's made on AI 2014 thus far.

If Caleb Johnson lands in the bottom two this week, it will still be a bit shocking. The American Idol 2014 results have so far been predictable: CJ Harris a week ago, Dexter Roberts the week before. (Many would argue that Harris should have gone home a week or two earlier.)

To sum up, it seems Jena Irene and Alex Preston are safe - AI 2014 Top 5 performance and social media following considered. Performance-wise, Jess Meuse should be safe and Sam Woolf should be in the bottom two. Caleb Johnson is in a tricky place because he was very good in dishing Whitesnake's "Still of the Night."

Who goes home - Sam Woolf, Jess Meuse, or Caleb Johnson?
