American sitcom “Young & Hungry” will be running for a fifth season this year, beginning March 13. Emily Osment, who plays the San Francisco-based young chef Gabi Diamond, announced the renewal in October via a Twitter post.

The series main stars include Emily Osment, Aimee Carrero and Jonathan Sadowski (Josh Kaminski). Kym Whitley plays as Josh’ housekeeper Yolanda and Rex Lee as Elliot Park, Josh' publicist. Recent spoilers reveal that Aimee Carrero, who plays ambitious banking intern and Gabi's best friend Sofia Rodriguez, has a new on-screen partner this season.

Carrero’s real-life husband Tim Rock as well will be making a guest appearance on an upcoming episode of the comedy sitcom, says TV Line. Rock is reportedly playing a dentist whom Sofia goes on a blind date with. He is known for his roles on other television shows including “American Housewife,” “House of Lies” and “Flashforward.”

It is unknown if Emily Osment will be back to reprise her role in “Young & Hungry” season 5. The actress' future with the series looks a bit hazy after she recently slammed the show’s official Twitter account. Apparently, the Twitter account used her personal pictures with “unrelated captions” to promote “Young & Hungry.” She expressed her displeasure via a tweet. Reports say that the actress might be leaving the show due to the alleged violation of her privacy, Inquisitr reports. [See Osment’s tweet below.]

Meanwhile, Freedom has reportedly decided to bring the “Young & Hungry” spinoff, “Young & Sofia,” to a stand-still. The planted spinoff pilot was starred by Ashley Tisdale and Aimee Carrero. It aired as episode 8 of the sitcom’s fourth season. The original series will follow Sofia’s exploits while she works under Logan Rawlings (Ashley Tisdale), the heavily inked magazine editor who "breathes style and cool."

The comedy series made its TV debut on June 25, 2014. It was renewed for a fourth season on March 2016 and premiered on June 1 the same year. David Holden serves as the show creator while Ashley Tisdale is executive producer of the series.

“Young & Hungry” season 5 is slated to premiere March 13 on Freedom in the US. An Australian release date for the fifth season has not been announced yet. Stay tuned to IBT Australia for upcoming updates on the series.
