'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' may be the last game in the series; dev explains why
Naughty Dog's upcoming "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" is perhaps one of the most anticipated titles for the PlayStation 4 this year. Fans of the series are eager to get their hands on Nathan Drake for another adventure for the last time. Recently, developer Naughty Dog explained why it is the last game in the series.
In an interview with The Sun, Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann, creative director of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End," said that creating another game in the series after the next iteration will be very difficult. This is the reason why "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" will be the last game in the franchise.
"He’s at the height of his popularity, so it’s not a good business decision," said Druckmann to The Sun. "But I feel like the best way to honour him is to go out on top, to finish his story."
The fourth and final game is aptly titled "A Thief's End." Many believe that this hints the possible death of series protagonist Nathan Drake at the end of the game. Druckmann did not specifically say that Drake will die. He did, however, say that the events of the last game will be nearly impossible to continue with Nathan Drake at the helm.
Druckmann also said that Sony will still have the final say on the franchise. Since Sony owns Naughty Dog, it will decide whether or not "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" will indeed be the last game in the franchise.
"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" is a PlayStation 4 exclusive, and it will launch on April 26. Originally, the game was scheduled to launch in March, but Naughty Dog moved the date. The developer said that the game will need the extra development time for it to launch without a hitch.
