A tragic accident has befallen the set of "The Expendables 2" and has cost one man his life and injured another. The accident happened during filming in Bulgaria.

The accident took place as the two stuntman were filming a scene on a rubber boat that involved an explosion on the Ognyanovo dam. The reports from the set are suggesting that the planned bomb explosion went wrong, and one of the stuntmen was killed on the spot. The other stuntman was seriously injured and was taken to hospital in Sofia where he remains in a critical condition.

The stuntmen were part of the second unit stunt team, with the first unit shooting with the main cast two hours away in Bansko. The production company responsible for the film has expressed its deep regret at the incident.

"Our hearts go out to the families and those on the production affected by this tragedy. The filmmakers are working closely with the authorities in responding to and investigating this incident," said the statement released by the production company's Bulgarian studio.

The sequel is still set for a release date of Aug. 17, 2012.
