Tess Holliday has made news for being the first size-22 model to be signed by major modelling agency Milk Management earlier this year. Today, she is in the news again for being the on the cover of People Magazine. It has been a long journey for a lady who was always bullied as a child and still grew up to leave her insecurities behind.

Tess has been on the modelling circuit for over 14 years and has been a part of campaigns like Monif C, Benefit cosmetics and Torrid. She has travelled all around the world on assignments and is a role model for many. But the journey was not very smooth.

Tess chronicled her journey to stardom in an essay for Today, where she described being a bullied teen at school. She even got death threats after, prompting her mother to pull her out of school. After earning her General Educational Development, or GED levels, Tess did the usual rounds of modelling agencies but was rejected all the time. She was always too big or too short to succeed in her dream. But her luck changed when she became the face of the A&E TV show called “Heavy.” She never looked back since. She was then signed by the prestigious Milk Modelling Agency of London.

She appears on the cover of People Magazine next month and has worked to inspire women to love their bodies. She is a social media star with a huge fan following with over 919,000 Facebook fans and 756,000 Instagram followers. Her hugely popular #effyourbeautystandards on Instagram focuses on acceptance of all body sizes and shapes. Tess is also a swimsuit model and has made news for posing without Photoshop for important brands like Torrid.

Tess continues to be an inspiration even though she accepts that sometimes, “It is daunting to be at the head of this movement, but I feel a great responsibility to inspire others and let them know that they can be who they are.”

Today, Tess is living her dream and inspiring others to do so. She is the largest plus-sized model signed by Milk Agency, appearing on TV, magazine features and all over the social media. A proud mother and confident women, Tess does not let size-22 hinder her journey.
