Roger Federer makes it a point that his family travels with him while on tour balance his family life and career as a tennis player. Recently, Federer has revealed that his family not only travels with multiple nannies to take care of their two set of twins but also with a kindergarten teacher to guarantee that his children do not miss out on education.

Recently, Federer talked how his family has been a fixture on the tennis circuit in an article by Christopher Clarey of the New York Times. The Swiss’ career as a tennis player apparently has always been a family affair. Since he and his wife Mirka had their twin daughters, Charlene Riva and Myla Rose, in 2009, the girls have been globetrotting with the 17-time grand slam champion. After the birth of their second set of twins (Leo and Lenny) in May, the boys have also been travelling with Federer from tournament to tournament.

While it is certainly tough to have your family travel with an athlete tour, Federer says it is easier for them because they travel with several nannies. In addition to their nannies, Federer reveals that they also travel with a kindergarten teacher, who has a degree in teaching primary education. Federer reportedly wants her twin girls, who turn six in July, to start education while they are on the road especially now that they are of school age.

“The girls enjoy it, and I love being with my family, and so does Mirka,” Federer said. “She loves being with me, so we get to see each other every single day, basically, and I think that’s more important than being apart from each other and them going to normal school at the moment, but things can change very quickly.”

Federer most recently played at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships where he claimed his seventh title after beating Novak Djokovic in the finale. He and his family are now in the U.S. because he is slated to participate in the Association of Tennis Professionals 1000 Masters tournament at the BNP Paribas Indian Wells Masters. Federer is a four-time champion at Indian Wells.

The 2015 BNP Paribas Open has officially kicked off on March 9. The women’s draw has already been completed, but the men’s draw is set to take place on March 10 (PDT).
