After originally airing last November and December on the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One, a “Halo: Nightfall” release date has been announced for DVD, Blu-Ray and digital channels. The series is set between “Halo 4” and the highly anticipated sequel “Halo 5: Guardians” as the show spotlights a character that will supposedly become very important in the newest Halo game.

The series will be released as a “Halo: Nightfall” collection, with all the episodes merged into a feature length film. Almost as if it were an actual “Halo: Nightfall” movie. A new trailer has also been issued by Microsoft to help hype the release of the series turned movie.

According to Gamespot, “Nightfall” centers on an ONI agent – Office of Naval Intelligence – named Jameson Locke played by Mike Colter. He has also been described as a legendary man hunter, with ONI supposedly being Earth’s most powerful and secretive military base. Locke will reportedly have a key role in the upcoming “Halo 5” and fans that originally watched the series were able to get to know him and watch his character grow as they prepare for the next installment in the “Halo” franchise.

“Nightfall” was produced by well renowned director of “Gladiator” and the “Alien” franchise Ridley Scott and was directed by Sergio Mimica – Gezzan who, according to his IMDB page, has directed other television shows like “Battlestar Galactica,” “Prison Break,” and “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.” The season ran for five episodes, each one running about 40 or so minutes.

Aside from being connected to “Halo 5,” it will also have connections to the untitled “Halo” television series that is set to come out when the game gets released, according to Halopedia. Very little is known about the “Halo” TV series, except that it will be produced by another Hollywood juggernaut, this time it will be Steven Spielberg who has actually worked with Gezzan in the critically acclaimed “Schindler’s List.”

The “Halo: Nightfall” collection will be released on March 17, 2015 according to movie website CNET. It will soon be available on DVD, Blu-Ray and digital channels, though what those digital channels are is still unknown.
