President Joe Biden tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday. Biden and his administration have been reporting updates on his well-being.

“President Biden is currently experiencing mild symptoms, mostly rhinorrhea (or “runny nose”) and fatigue, with an occasional dry cough, which started yesterday evening,” Kevin C. O’Connor, D.O., FAAFP physician to the president said in a White House letter.

Biden, 79, posted on Twitter Thursday stating, "Folks, I’m doing great. Thanks for your concern. Just called Senator Casey, Congressman Cartwright, and Mayor Cognetti (and my Scranton cousins!) to send my regrets for missing our event today. Keeping busy!"

The president had to cancel a speech about gun violence in Pennsylvania scheduled for Thursday and a trip to his home in Wilmington, Delaware over the weekend after testing positive.

Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, said in a statement that Biden had “tested positive for Covid-19. He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms.”

O’Connor said in the statement that Biden will receive “PAXLOVID” an emergency use anti-viral drug for Covid-19 that is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for people who meet the criteria.

“Early use of PAXLOVID, in this case, provides additional protection against severe disease,” O’Connor said in the letter.

Biden is expected to make a recovery, “as most maximally protected patients,” O’Connor added, and will isolate following the Center for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations.
