The original “Boulder Dash 30th Anniversary” game came out last year as a free-to-play title, with the option to buy more content. While the game did reasonably well, there seemed to be a good number of fans that weren’t content with the free-to-play model and were willing to shell out cash for the game to have all the content. It seems that developer Tapstar Interactive has listened as fans can now download the “Boulder Dash 30th Anniversary Premium” edition for $6.99.

Pocket Gamer has confirmed that the premium versions of the game no longer has advertisements popping up, along with any sort of microtransactions that were in the original freemium version. Players no longer have to spend cash on earning the unlockable characters or the consumable items as they can now be earned through simply playing the game.

A report from Droid Gamers notes that there are some additional things to pay for, but that’s only for fans interested in additional content for the title. Fans can also pay for the remastered version of the original 1984 “Boulder Dash” title, which will reportedly feature “diabolical” new designs from Tapstar Interactive.

As for the gameplay, that remains unchanged, though that’s probably not a bad thing for fans of the game. Players still dig around mines looking for various gems and power-ups while avoiding traps and other hazards that can cause harm to the player.

Players who purchase the “Boulder Dash 30th Anniversary Premium” edition will also be getting new hardcore levels that were made to challenge veteran players of the game. There are also brand new caves in the game, which will probably be ripe for exploration as well as a test of skill on the part of the player.

“Boulder Dash 30th Anniversary Premium” can now be purchased on the App store and Google Play. For those who are fine with the freemium restrictions, the free-to-play version of “Boulder Dash 30th Anniversary” is still available for download, though it’s unclear if fans can also purchase the aforementioned DLC if they stick with the freemium version of the mobile game.
