“Faith” is the theme of “Orange is the New Black” Season 3. Danielle Brooks, who plays Tasha "Taystee" Jefferson on the show, has spilled more details about this theme, saying that it is not restricted to “saintly” or “spiritual.” Also the new season will see playing up of new relationships between the colourful inmates of the Litchfield prison.

The actress told Entertainment Weekly (EW) that the creator of the show, Jenji Kohan, had said that “faith” would have a broader meaning in Season 3. The report has quoted her as saying that from first season to the upcoming third season, the women inmates are “all about survival” and “survival has to be connected to faith.”

This faith can be spiritual kind, or it can be related to “finding faith in another human being,” or it can be about faith that one finds within oneself, the actress said, adding “all of us are searching for something to believe in and to get through our fights and our struggles in prison.”

Meanwhile, Laverne Cox, who plays Sophia Burset, told EW that “Orange is the New Black” Season 3 is her favourite season when it comes to shooting. She said that in the new season she has performed scenes that she has never done before. She always wanted to enact them in front of the camera. Cox added that each story hits her in the gut.

Cox and Selenis Leyva, who plays Gloria Mendoza, revealed that the backstories of more characters will be revealed in Season 3. Also “Orange is the New Black” Season 3 will explore new relationships between prisoners of Litchfield prison. Leyva added that the fans of the show will get to see new side of the characters, not seen before on the show.

The arrival of new inmates, Lolly (Lori Petty) and Stella Carlin (Ruby Rose), and return of Alex Vause (Laura Prepon) are expected to shake things up, re-defining relationships and redrawing battle lines.

Netflix is scheduled to release all the episodes of the third season on June 12. It has already renewed it for Season 4 and the production on the fourth instalment is expected to begin soon.
