In this week’s episode of “Game of Thrones,” blood runs through the streets of both Westeros and Essos. Action is brewing from the very north all the way down south of Westeros while Daenerys Targaryen needs to deal with a major rebellion in an episode aptly entitled “Sons of the Harpy.”

Dorne

Jamie and his new sidekick Bronn finally catch sight of Dorne where he will attempt to rescue his daughter Myrcella. They row themselves to shore in the middle of the night but are still unable to evade the Dornish guards. They end up engaging the guards in battle and luckily for the one-handed Jaime, Bronn is still every bit as good with the sword even though he’s put his sellsword days behind him.

Despite escaping the guards, Jaime is still in imminent danger since Ellaria Sand and the Sand Snakes are now aware of his presence in Dorne. The captain of the ship they sailed in told the sand snakes that he’s just arrived. Ellaria rallies Oberyn’s daughters behind her and they all agree that they will avenge their father’s death in their own way. Doran Martell, the reigning Lord of Dorne does not want to start a war but the hot-headed Ellaria and the Sand Snakes are out for blood.

King’s Landing

Cersei still has her claws on the Iron Throne and is busy manipulating everyone around her even King Tommen and Queen Margaery. She finds a way to flatter Margaery’s father and sends him on a very important mission to settle some debt issues with the Iron Bank in Braavos. With her father out of the way, Margaery is an easier target.

With the help of Cersei’s new ally, the High Sparrow, she restarts a group called the Faith Militant. This is an army that existed decades ago whose sole purpose is to implement religious laws and to punish those who sin against the Seven Gods. She then casually informs them that Margaery’s brother Loras is gay and therefore a sinner. she has him arrested by the Faith Militant.

When Queen Margaery hears about her brother’s arrest, she pleads to King Tommen to do something about it. Tommen heads out to try and release Loras with his King’s Guard and Gold Cloaks but the Faith Militant refuse to listen to him. When Tommen is unable to release Loras, Margaery is distraught and the issue lodges a wedge between then just as Cersei wanted.

The Wall

Stannis is getting ready to march with his army to Winterfell. Lady Melisandre is doing everything she can to ensure his victory this time and not have a repeat of the battle at the Blackwater. She attempts to seduce Jon Snow into making love to her so that she can give birth to yet another shadow just like the one that she used to murder Renly Baratheon. Jon stands his ground and sticks to his vow. When Melisandre points out that he’s broken his vow before. Jon shuts her down by saying that he still loves Ygritte even though she is dead.

Jon gets back to business after warding off the temptress. His good friend Sam Tarly helps him with solicitation letters to the Lords of the North and Jon reluctantly agrees to reach out to Lord Bolton for the sake of the Night’s Watch who are in desperate need of help and supplies.

Winterfell

Sansa is revisiting her old haunts inside Winterfell and Petyr Baelish finds her lighting candles in the old family crypt. He tells Sansa about his memories of her Aunt Lyanna and how Prince Rhaegar Targaryen openly admired her beauty. Sansa then talks about the widely believed story in Westeros that the whole rebellion against the Targaryens was because Rhaegar kidnapped and raped Lyanna. Baelish listens to the version of the story that Sansa believes and just gives her a smile without commenting on it.

Baelish then tells Sansa about his plans and how he thinks Sansa can reclaim the North once Stannis arrives with his army. He tells Sansa to stay strong and do what she can to avenge her family. Meanwhile, he will be heading back to King’s Landing to attend to other matters and pacify the current ruling family.

Across the Narrow Sea

Over at Essos, Tyrion finds himself being held captive by Jorah Mormont. Tyrion figures out who his captor is by looking at the clues around the boat. When Jorah says that they are heading out to see the Queen, Tyrion uses his wits to again figure out that Jorah has been exiled by Daenerys after she found out that Jorah had been spying on her. He tells him that he was on his way to see Daenerys anyway so they should travel as allies instead of as captor and hostage. Jorah wants to hear nothing of it and keeps Tyrion bound like a pig.

Speaking of Daenerys, she is still facing pressure to open the fighting pits for the benefit of her people who want to make a living out of it. She refuses to do it and calls the tradition barbaric. The former slaves and former masters are agitated and the tension reaches fever pitch. The Sons of the Harpy go on a killing spree against the unsullied and the rest of Dany’s army. In the violence that ensues, both Grey Worm and Barristan Selmy are severely injured causing Dany to potentially lose two of her most trusted captains.

Will either of them survive? How will Daenerys bring order back to her city? All this and more will be revealed when “Game of Thrones” episode 5 airs next Sunday at 9 pm on HBO.
