‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 5, episode 5 spoilers: Dark Swan’s plan, Merida vs. Mr. Gold teased in promo video [WATCH]

Emma Swan/Dark Swan/Dark One (Jennifer Morrison) has revealed her secret weapon in the latest episode of “Once Upon a Time” Season 5 as well as what she wants to be done in order to complete her plan. A promo video teases Merida (Amy Manson) will fulfill the Dark One’s instructions of making Mr. Gold (Robert Carlyle) the hero that the latter needs in her plan.

The brief synopsis of “Once Upon a Time” Season 5, episode 5 titled “Dreamcatcher” in a Comic Book Movie report teases that the Dark One needs a hero to break a curse. The previous episodes have revealed that the Dark One has saved Mr. Gold’s life because she needs him to be the hero that can pull out the Excalibur sword.

To make Mr. Gold the hero that she needs, Emma Swan has instructed her heart-less secret weapon Merida to make Mr. Gold brave since the OUAT character is known for being a coward. The promo video of “Once Upon a Time” Season 5, episode 5 shows the faceoff between Merida and Mr. Gold in the woods.

Mr. Gold insists that he can never be brave but Merida believes the Storybrooke pawn shop owner has the capability to become heroic. The promo video also teases that Regina Mills/Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla), Belle (Emilie de Ravin), Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) and Captain Hook (Colin O’Donoghue) has discovered what is hidden in the Dark Swan’s basement.

Emma has brought back the Excalibur sword with her from Camelot because of the weapon’s important function for her new role in Storybrooke. The new Dark One is now the one who wants to make the Excalibur sword whole again so the Storybrooke heroes must find a way to stop Emma from accomplishing her plan and save her from the darkness.

Mr. Gold warns in the end of the promo video that the Dark One will always lose the ones that he or she loves the most since he experienced just that with his son Neal Cassidy/Baelfire (Michael Raymond-James) and his relationship with Belle. “Once Upon a Time” Season 5 returns with episode 5 titled “Dreamcatcher” on Sunday night, Oct. 25, at 8/7c on ABC.
