Drama mires Ramsay Street’s Halloween celebration on the first salvo of “Neighbours” this week. On Monday, Mark Brennan (Scott McGregor) is devastated after Stephanie Scully (Carla Bonner) ended their relationship over her poor fertility results. Elly Conway (Jodi Anasta) is quick to offer Mark a shoulder to cry on, which makes fans wonder whether romance is brewing between the two.

If this happens, Elly has to contend with a love triangle as one other guy is head over heels for her: Angus Beaumont-Hannay (Jai Waetford). Elly reckons it’s just a school-boy crush, but Angus seems seriously in love with his teacher. Other “Neighbours” cast members who will also appear on the Oct. 31 episode include Susan Kennedy (Jackie Woodburne), Tyler Brennan (Travis Burns), Piper Willis (Mavournee Hazel), Sonya Rebecchi (Eve Morey), Jarrod “Toadie” Rebecchi (Ryan Moloney), Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis), Xanthe Canning (Lilly Van Der Meer) and Ben Ian Kirk (Felix Mallard).

“Neighbours” also stars Karl Kennedy (Alan Fletcher), Brad Willis (Kip Gamblin), Lauren Turner (Kate Kendall), Terese Willis (Rebekah Elmaloglou), Paige Smith (Olympia Valance), Jack Callahan (Andrew Morley), Aaron Brennan (Matt Wilson), Amy Williams (Zoe Cramond), Gary Canning (Damien Richardson), Sheila Canning (Colette Mann), Brooke Butler (Fifi Box), David Tanaka (Takaya Honda) and Leo Tanaka (Tim Kano).

“Neighbours” posted a sneak peek of Monday’s episode on its Facebook page. In the clip, Mark confides in on Elly that Steph’s trying to break up with him. “If it’s any consolation, I’m the queen of being dumped so I know how gutted you must feel,” Elly says. Mark then consoles her by telling her she’s a very attractive witch. Digital Spy reports that Mark is feeling down when Steph refuses to talk to him about her decision to break up. Apart from Elly, he receives consolation from Toadie and Paul as he lets Steph cool off.

Elly also appears in another preview video, as she and Angus argue. Angus tells Elly that he loves her, but she sets him straight, saying he’s only infatuated with her. Angus reveals that he’s planning to get a tattoo for her and Elly calls that act creepy. While they’re bickering, Susan suspiciously watches them from a distance. Spoilers hint that Angus, Ben and Xanthe made their debut gig at the Halloween dance. During their performance, Angus serenades Elly and Susan can’t help but notice that something’s going on between the two.

Digital Spy spoilers also suggest that Tyler, after finding out about Piper’s one-night stand with Angus, takes some reckless action and ends up in trouble.

“Neighbours” recap

Last week, Simone got arrested for trying to steal Amy’s vehicle. Jack went over to the police station and tried to defend his ex-girlfriend. He blamed Paige for upsetting Simone. Fortunately for Simone, Amy didn’t press charges. Later, Simone went over to talk to Paige alone. Simone pleaded with Paige to let Jack go, sharing their long history together. Later, Paige told Lauren that she’s done with Jack – she simply couldn’t fight for him anymore.

At the hospital, Lauren rushed to Brad’s bedside and confronted him about what he said to Terese. Brad revealed that he thinks he might not make it and that’s why he’s trying to get things in order. Lauren asked him to keep fighting and Brad said he would, but he’s utterly scared. Lauren went to the Kennedy’s house to seek Karl’s help. Karl cut his leave short to take over Brad’s treatment and tried to find out what’s causing Brad’s strange illness.

Karl suspected that Brad’s condition had something to do with the tattoo. Lauren tried to look for it at their house but couldn’t find it. What they didn’t know is that Angus and Ben were using it – Angus asked Ben to ink him using Ned’s tattoo kit, the one laced with poison. Luckily, Karl was able to stop the two boys before Angus gets infected as well. Karl’s hunch was right – the ink contained high levels of arsenic. When Karl shared this with Brad and his family, Paige realised it’s Jacka who poisoned Ned’s kit.

Meanwhile, Steph and Sonya were fretting over the surrogacy procedures. The next day, Mark and Steph were ecstatic to hear that his test results turned out great. However, they became upset when they learned that she has slim chances of producing eggs that will be good enough for the procedure. Steph took it badly, even breaking up with Mark.
