Channel Eleven posted a sneak peek for Tuesday’s episode. In the preview video, Terese takes the stand again and admits to the court that Cecilia’s testimony wasn’t entirely true. Mark then informs Terese that she’ll be facing charges for paying a witness and obstructing justice. The trailer leaves a cliffhanger as the court waits for the jury’s verdict.

Digital Spy reports that the jury will decide Paul is guilty and that he’ll be facing a long jail sentence. Steph will talk to him about filing an appeal, but Paul is not at all eager to pursue it – he seems to have given up for good.

“Neighbours” recap

On Monday, Toadie shared to Terese and Brad that he agreed to represent Paul, but his client will be pleading guilty. When Brad revealed this to Lauren, she admitted that she knew that Terese bribed Cecilia to testify. Lauren warned him of the risk in case the truth comes out – she said Paul’s conviction might be overturned. Brad insisted that since Paul would own up to the crime, he’d go straight to prison and there would be no trial.

In court, things went according to plan until Paul dropped a bombshell: he said he’s not guilty. Paul’s plead shocked everyone, including his lawyer, Toadie. Outside, Toadie lashed at him for not doing what they agreed on. Paul said he was ready to plead guilty until she saw Terese, and he just couldn’t bring himself to admit that he killed her son when he didn’t. Paul begged Toadie not to leave him on the lurch. “You’re the only hope that I have,” Paul said.

Later, Karl and Mark took the stand and gave damning testimonies that further incriminated Paul. However, Toadie was able to turn the tide and raise doubts that Mark’s younger brother, Tyler, could have contributed to the boiler damage and consequently, the explosion.

Inside the holding room, Steph broke the “no talking rule” and tried to convince Terese that Paul is innocent. However, Terese stood her ground and when Steph was called to testify, Cecilia assured Terese that she won’t let her down. Terese looked like she couldn’t handle the tension anymore, and resorted to taking a sip from her flask. When she gets on the stand, Steph didn’t help Paul’s case and established herself as an unreliable witness, considering her incarceration and the fact that she was diagnosed as mentally unstable. When it was Terese’s time to testify, the prosecutor tried to establish Paul’s motive in deliberately causing the explosion. However, her credibility was destroyed when she was forced to admit that she had been drinking that day. The prosecution’s case further went downhill when Toadie was able to establish that Cecilia made a deal with the prosecution in exchange of payment.

Paul took the stand and insisted his innocence. He also painted Cecilia as a liar. Paul then said that he loved Terese and that he would never hurt her or anyone she loves. In conclusion, he talked about integrity, and said that putting a liar on the stand is an insult to the memory of those who died in the explosion. When the court took a break, Terese ran after Cecilia and asked her to change her testimony. Cecilia refused, arguing that she’ll be charged with perjury. Cecilia also warned that if she’s going down, she would take Terese with her. “You have to decide which is more important – justice for your boy, or getting yourself out of jail,” Cecilia said.
